About previewing ads

Context changes
how an ad reads

Check it in place

Banners are designed on a blank canvas but seen next to headlines, photos and other ads. Previewing a banner in a realistic page shows whether it still stands out, whether the message reads at a glance and whether the brand is clear.

Image and HTML5 banners

Upload a PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP image, or an HTML5 banner as a ZIP or a single HTML file. HTML5 banners run in a sandboxed frame in your browser. The tool reads the ad.size tag to pick the right slot, checks for a clickTag and lists any files the banner references that are missing from the ZIP. Your files never leave your browser.

Check the crop and the small sizes

If an image does not match the slot it gets cropped, so the preview flags mismatched sizes. Small mobile slots such as 320×50 leave very little room: make sure the logo and the main message survive at that size before you send the set to trafficking.

Find every standard size in the ad size guide, see example creatives in the Creative Showroom, or ask AdGeeks to produce and traffic the set for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I preview HTML5 banners?

Yes. Upload the banner as a ZIP or a single HTML file. It runs in a sandboxed frame, and the tool checks the ad.size tag, the clickTag and any missing files.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser. The files are never sent to AdGeeks or anyone else.

What is a clickTag?

A clickTag is a variable in an HTML5 banner that holds the click-through URL, so the ad server can track clicks and set the landing page. Most DSPs require one.

What is the ad.size meta tag?

A tag in the banner’s HTML, such as width=300,height=250, that tells ad platforms the intended size. The preview uses it to pick the right slot.

Why does my banner look cropped?

Its dimensions do not match the slot. Export the banner at the exact slot size, or at twice the size for high-density screens.
