What is Adform?
Adform is an advertising technology company founded in Denmark in 2002. Its buy-side platform, Adform FLOW, brings a demand-side platform, an ad server, creative tools and data management together in one interface. Advertisers and agencies use it to plan, buy, serve and measure digital campaigns across display, video and connected TV.
Adform is independent. It is not part of a media owner or a large tech group that also sells its own inventory, which many buyers value as a more neutral position. It has a strong presence in Europe, where privacy rules shape how campaigns are built.
How Adform works
Adform is often described as a full-stack platform, because the main buying and serving steps live in one system instead of several connected tools:
Buying: the DSP connects to exchanges and supply-side platforms and bids in real time, both in the open auction and through private deals activated with a deal ID.
Ad serving: the built-in ad server hosts creatives, counts impressions and tracks conversions, including for media bought outside the DSP.
Data and audiences: buyers can bring in first-party data, use third-party and contextual segments, and work with identity options that do not depend on third-party cookies.
Reporting: delivery, cost and conversion data sit in one place, which makes it easier to compare channels.
In practice, a campaign in Adform starts with a plan, moves into line items with targeting, budgets and bids, and then runs with ongoing optimization based on the platform's reporting.
Why Adform matters
One stack: keeping the DSP and ad server together reduces data gaps and discrepancies between systems.
Privacy focus: Adform has invested in cookieless advertising approaches, which matter in browsers like Safari and Firefox that block third-party cookies and in markets where consent limits their use.
Independence: no own media to promote, so the platform's job is simply to buy well across the open web.
European reach: a good fit for brands with strong European audiences and local publisher relationships.
For buyers, the practical benefit is fewer handoffs: planning, buying, serving and reporting happen in the same place.
Adform vs DV360
Display & Video 360 is Google's DSP. It is tightly connected to the Google Marketing Platform, offers access to YouTube inventory and lets buyers use Google audience segments. Adform is independent and pairs its DSP with its own ad server. Both cover the core buying methods, such as open auction and private deals. Neither is better in every case. The right choice depends on your markets, inventory needs, data setup and how you measure. Many advertisers run both and shift budget to whichever performs better for each goal.
