Maxwin - Driving Cost-Efficient Registrations and First-Time Deposits via Adform

Client Overview

MMaxwin is an online sportsbook and casino brand competing for player acquisition in Germany and the United Kingdom - two highly competitive European iGaming markets.

The challenge was not simply generating traffic, but attracting qualified users who would register and progress to become first-time depositors.

This required a programmatic strategy focused on acquisition efficiency: reaching high-intent players in brand-safe environments, controlling Cost Per Registration, and driving downstream value.

The campaign was built around two key actions: registrations and first-time deposits.

Campaign Objective

The campaign had one clear commercial objective: acquire new registered players across Germany and the United Kingdom and convert them efficiently into first-time depositors. Rather than optimizing primarily toward clicks or low-cost traffic, performance was evaluated against the full acquisition funnel. Two metrics sat at the center of the strategy: Cost Per Registration (CPR) measured how efficiently media spend generated new registered users. Registration-to-First-Time-Deposit Conversion Rate measured whether those registrations translated into genuine depositing players. This distinction was critical. A low registration cost has limited value if those users fail to progress further down the funnel. Audience, inventory, creative, frequency and budget decisions were therefore assessed not only by their ability to generate registrations, but also by the quality of those registrations and their contribution to first-time deposits. The result was a performance framework that kept programmatic media investment closely connected to commercially meaningful actions.

Audience & Targeting

The targeting strategy focused on high-intent audiences interested in online casino, sports betting and gaming, supported by contextual targeting across relevant sports, entertainment, gaming and news environments. Retargeting re-engaged users who had visited the Maxwin website but left before completing registration, helping improve lower-funnel efficiency. All targeting was restricted to eligible 18+ audiences and aligned with market-specific compliance and brand-safety requirements.

Platform & Channels

The campaign ran through Adform, focusing on brand-safe programmatic display across German and UK publishers using open-web and private marketplace inventory. Pre-bid controls supported brand safety, viewability, fraud protection, placement quality and frequency management. Ongoing audience and placement analysis helped reduce media waste and shift spend toward stronger-performing combinations. Performance was continuously optimized based on actual registration and deposit outcomes.

Creative and Formats

Standard programmatic display ran across desktop and mobile using core IAB formats: 300×250, 728×90, 160×600 and 320×50. Creative was conversion-led, with clear offers and compliant calls to action designed to drive registration. Assets were localized for Germany and the UK, while multiple variations were tested to identify the strongest combinations of message, format and placement. Budget was then shifted toward creatives generating stronger registration and deposit signals.

Geo-Focus

Germany and the United Kingdom were managed as separate performance markets, each with distinct audience behavior, competition and media economics. Budget allocation remained flexible, allowing spend to shift toward the markets, audiences, inventory and creatives delivering stronger acquisition efficiency. This ensured investment followed conversion performance rather than a fixed geographic split.
